USB Powered Keyboard Lighting
Bored at home? Left with unused or non-working USB cable?
Here’s a small thing u could do this Christmas...
Things Needed :
USB Cable - 1 Nos
Straws -
2 Nos
Single stranded wire - 1 meter
Switch -1 Nos
Theory :
Firstly before going into the on hands experiment,
let us first know what USB is
·
USB stands for Universal Serial Bus
·
It has four thin different colored wires inside it viz. Red , Black
, White and Green
·
Each of these colors indicate a specific purpose , as we know that
an USB is essentially used to transfer the data , it should essentially contain
a Data transmitting & a Data reception wire these wires are colored white
and green respectively.
·
And any port or any machine for that matter, needs power to
operate/function
For this purpose the two other wires are used. The
red wire is used to input the USB with 5 Volts DC, and the black being the
ground wire.
·
The general block diagram of the USB is given below.
Block Diagram :
Procedure
:
· Cut the USB wire about 5 cms away from
the Jack and unstrap the wire.
· Connect all the components as shown in
the block diagram
· Use hot glue or solder the joints of the
wire to the switch and the led’s
· Put the led’s inside the straw and wire
them from the other end of the straw as shown below, this makes our led’s look
like street lamps.
· Once you’re done , color the straws to
give them the best look
· Now connect the USB end to the port and
using the switch control your led’s.
· This is most used at late nights when you’ve
got to work and someone’s sleeping in the room and you’re forced to shut down
the lamps.
